As part of our Wellness & Fitness program, we offer an incredible package of Healthcare Management Services to every OceanView resident. This includes programs such as weekly blood pressure checks and seasonal flu shot clinics, along with periodic audiology and podiatry appointments right here on our campus. This provides residents with easy access to the services they need most. Additionally, our Director of Resident Care Services, Debi Miller, R.N. meets with each and every new resident upon moving to OceanView and at least annually thereafter to discuss their medical history and any changing needs. In the event of an illness or hospitalization, Debi acts as a personal advocate, working with residents’ doctors and discharge planners to ensure a safe return home to OceanView. She offers clinical support, appropriate resources and the coordination of services through her professional focus as a registered nurse. Knowing every resident allows her to provide unique, individual case management with the coordination of the best care possible, while residents and their families are able to spend more time together and focus on recuperation.

Our fitness classes offer a range of levels so that we may accommodate all of our residents. We know that getting involved in a new exercise regimen can be challenging so we offer a Beginning Assessment at no charge as well as a resident Equipment Orientation to learn how to properly use the treadmills, bikes, the multi-purpose strength circuit and other equipment we have in the Fitness Studio. We offer personal training in half-hour increments that can be also be scheduled as one hour per week or as a once a month check-in! Exercising with others is a great way to stay motivated. We have many classes available from Yoga to Tai Chi to Aerobics. Come join the fun!

A message from Catherine, OceanView’s Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor
Winter 2011-2012
My Monday, Wednesday and Friday chair and fitness studio exercises classes will train your body for more flexibility, strengthening and cardiovascular activity. I teach the three different components once per week using the entire class time on one component, which allows you to learn about your body, not just “do” the class. You will learn which muscle group is being worked, how it feels and the correct form so it can be performed at home as well.
I’m also available for one-on-one fitness instruction as often as you’d like—we can talk about your personal wellness goals and I can help you get there. When I’m not in the fitness studio or teaching a class, you can find me in my office and ask me anything!
