From India

Osher Map Library Exhibit

The Grand Tour and Development of Tourism,
from 1600-1900.

This presentation traces three hundred years of travel and tourism in Europe and North America through the maps and guidebooks that directed travelers and tourists to their destinations. It begins with Coryat who, unlike his modern counterpart, had neither guidebooks nor maps. It ends with World War I, after which travel to Europe would never be the same again.  Visit this exhibition online at: http://usm.maine.edu/maps/exhibition/19/home

Dana Cunningham

An Afternoon with Dana Cunningham and Max Dyer

We are thrilled to welcome back pianist Dana Cunningham and cellist Max Dyer for an intimate afternoon of contemplative holiday music. Their beautiful collaboration is one of OceanView’s most popular yearly events. The annual season of Light and Hope, wherein Hanukkah, the Winter Solstice and Christmas converge, offers us a time for reflection and grace, a time of receiving the invitation to be still — to listen. It is also a call to contemplate how we may more fully participate as makers of peace.

Friday, December 2nd – 3:00PM

Seating is limited for this very popular event – RSVP by calling (207) 781-4460.

National Senior Health & Fitness Day 2011

National Senior Health and Fitness Day

Thanks to all of our friends who joined us for our celebration of National Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 25th. Our special guest, Hannah Hays, Miss Casco Bay 2011, kicked off the day with our opening ceremonies. Our certified personal trainer, Catherine Wilson, filled our Strength Training classes as well as Thai Chi, Zumba and Bootcamp work-outs, and we flexed our abs with hulahooping, enjoyed massage and reiki sessions, health screenings, wellness discussions and even tried some delicious and nutritious foods to keep our bodies healthy.  Take a peek below to see some photos from this fantastic community-wide event.
